    Planners have a business critical role to develop construction programmes that ensure work is carried out in the right sequence to enable earliest completion. Their ability to collaborate effectively is critically important, and is enabled by central hosting of the planning application P6.


    This role is as part of the team which manages users working permissions, and co-ordinates technical support when it is required.

    What will I be doing?

    Key Tasks & Responsibilities

    The trainee administrator will be based in the Maidenhead office and report to Phil Budden (or his delegated senior planner) and will be involved in all aspects of user support to the Planning Community, and reporting as required for the support team. P6 is the main application used by all planners.

    Duties will include:

    • Setting up new users & contracts
    • Maintaining user setup, permissions and records
    • Troubleshooting user problems including liaising with Critigen & Synoptek Support
    • Manage and maintain Planning Portal
    • Manage records in Excel
    • Database Maintenance in P6 interface
    • Prepare and maintain schedules and trackers to ensure accurate up to date information is available to the team
    • Complete training objectives and development plan as agreed with their line manager
    • Develop IT skills in the use of Microsoft office software and other software packages as required, including planning software - opportunity to learn use of Planning applications
    • Attend training courses as required
    • Opportunity to join the Costain Apprentice scheme at the appropriate level
    • Take responsibility for accurately producing information
    • Potentially in carry out site visits and engage with the planning community

    • Demonstrate IT, Excel and numeracy skills
    • Be IT ‘savvy’ and keen to learn new IT skills, especially to
      • support Citrix delivery of P6
      • maintain Planning Portal website
    • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills
    • Work accurately and want to get the detail right
    • Organisational and Time Management skills
    • Team Player
    • Act in a courteous manner at all times
